IPD/JICA co-host Conference on Measurement of Well Being and Development in Durban, South Africa
November 12, 2015
International Convention Center Durban, South Africa
Partners
The Stiglitz-Sen-Fitoussi (SSF) Commission Report revealed numerous issues in using GDP as the dominant factor in measuring human wellbeing and economic development in developing countries. To that end the IPD and the Research Institute of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency joined other partners in cohost a conference on the Measurement of Well Being and Development in Durban, South Africa from November 12-14. The conference focused on alternative conceptual frameworks and statistical methods in measuring wellbeing and economic development. The IPD thanks the Government of South Africa, the OECD-hosted High Level Expert Group, Center on Global Economic Governance (Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs) and Cornell University in making this conference a success.
